The first issue of Altar Magazine in 2024. This issue’s topic is “Holding Space”. Holding space is the practice of making space for somebody else's experience and centering them. To hold space, one must be fully present and create a safe environment. Once the circumstances are created, holding space fosters listening and empathizing. The Nordic Black community and its culture - meaning music, fashion, food, fashion and lifestyle, is receiving more space to flourish on its own terms. Some of the articles and features in this issue are about Nordic Blacks on the frontline making spaces happen and also about the people who love and support Nordic Black culture, such as Thomas Gylling who is highlighted in this issue as a great space creator for Nordic Black people.
